Find the connection details
Open the server in the server panel and check its assigned address and port. The port shown for the game is the port players use. Some games also have a separate query, voice, or web-management port; use the port specifically labeled for that feature.
Basic connection steps
- Start the server and wait until the console reports that it is ready.
- Copy the server address and game port exactly as shown in the panel.
- Enter them in the game's multiplayer or direct-connect screen.
- If the game supports a server browser, search for the server name after the first successful startup.
Mods and configuration
Stop the server before changing world files, mod files, or startup configuration. Upload files through SFTP, then start the server and read the console for missing dependencies or version mismatches.
Players must use compatible game, mod, and server versions. A server can be online while still refusing connections because a mod or client version is incompatible.
When connections fail
Check that the server is running, the port is correct, and the game version matches. If the console shows an error, include that message in a support ticket. Do not delete world or configuration files while troubleshooting unless a support technician has asked you to do so.
